Gubbi Gubbi Animal Friends and Gubbi Gubbi Bush Tucker Girl are Aboriginal children’s books that teach the language and culture of the Gubbi Gubbi people. Authors are Christine Stuart and Susan Clark.
- Gubbi Gubbi Animal Friends tells a story of a boy and his father and the Australian native animals.
- Gubbi Gubbi Bush Tucker Girl tells a story of a girl and her mother and the Australian native bush tucker.
Each book contains Gubbi Gubbi language words that are easy to learn alongside picture associations in a storytelling format about the Australian animals and bush tucker.
The artwork showcased in ‘Gubbi Gubbi Animal Friends’ is by local Sunshine Coast artist Bianca Clark. For the second book, ‘Gubbi Gubbi Bush Tucker Girl’, the illustrations are by Bianca Clark and artist Gabrielle Cloutier. Both artists joined together their talents to create a modern day illustration of the Gubbi Gubbi people.
The traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi people stretched from the northern banks of the Pine River in the south; to Burrum River in the north near Maryborough and to the Conondale Ranges in the west. Their traditional lands include Redcliffe, Bribie Island, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Maryborough, Gympie, Caboolture and Petrie.
We are proud to advise this book publication is a total Aboriginal production.
