Workshops

Workshops incorporate local Indigenous perspectives, specifically the Gubbi Gubbi people – history, culture and Gubbi Gubbi language.

The following topics can be tailored to age appropriate audience workshops.

Lessons can include:

  • Gubbi Gubbi Culture, Language & History
  • Ochre Demonstration & Art Workshop
  • Ochre face painting
  • Artefacts (Traditional Gubbi Gubbi food & tools)
  • Stolen Generation
  • Music and Dance – Didgeridoos, Clap Sticks & Boomerangs
    • Traditional Gubbi Gubbi Language Song
  • Traditional storytelling including readings from:
    • Gubbi Gubbi Animal Friends
    • Gubbi Gubbi Bush Tucker Girl

Aboriginal Cultural Workshop

  • Includes 60 minutes lessons/classes (Up to 4 rotations)
  • Maximum 30 children per class
  • Workshop includes demonstration of artefacts and lesson on the culture, history and language of the Aboriginal people, specifically the Gubbi Gubbi people (the local Aboriginal people of Brisbane North Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Gympie, Bribie Island, Redcliffe and surrounding area).
  • Lesson topics are tailored to age appropriate audience workshops/ school curriculum
  • Total Duration of Workshop: half a day (morning/afternoon) subject to class size

 

Aboriginal Ochre Art Workshop

  • Maximum 30 children per class (5 children per rotation to complete canvas)
  • All children participate in ochre artwork on a canvas to create 2 large murals
  • Price includes art materials & canvases
  • Workshop includes ochre demonstation & ochre face painting
  • Lesson topics are tailored to age appropriate audience workshops/ school curriculum
  • Total Duration of Workshop: half a day (morning/afternoon) subject to class size
